Flowering Plants

Here are some flowering plants that really look great in small gardens and suitable for hot climate.

Euphorbia, lasting blooms that are easy to maintain

This plant is very easy to maintain as it needs very little water and a lot of sun which is not a problem in the Philippines. The blooms last very long and the color is a delightful shade of pink or red or yellow. You will have them most days of the year.

A newly planted Euphorbia. Be careful that they don't get too much water, otherwise the plant will die.

Periwinkle

I grew these bushy beauties from seeds. There is no stopping once the flowers started. The more sunlight they get, the more the flowers, the happier the plants look like. I water them everyday.

These plants were planted at the same time as the periwinkles in the photo above. I just transplanted them too late as I have problems with space. They also get just around 4 hours of sunlight (8:00am to 12:00noon). They are smaller but nevertheless, they are starting to have more flowers as evidenced by the growing buds.

Bougainvillea

I did not have any luck of propagating this plant from cuttings from the wild variety that covered my fence, so I bought a dwarf with yellow flowers.

Santan (Ixora)

This is a dwarf variety. The flowers are really pretty in bright red. Santan is a hardy plant that survives hot climate.
