Ornamental Plants

Snake Plant

Snake plant is a specie of Sansevieria (Sansevieria Trifasciata). It is also known as Mother in Law's Tongue. This is an easy grower and propagates very fast. The leaves retain lots of water (this is a succulent) so frequent watering is not necessary.

Bird's Nest (Sansevieria Trifasciata Hahnii)

This is another specie of Sansevieria and like the Snake Plant, this propagates fast. You can have one single plant and after just two to three months, you'll have a lot of them. The plant amazingly tolerates too much sun or the absence of it. I placed some of my Sansevieria at the roof deck where it is getting more than 6 hours of direct sunlight while the others I placed in shaded area at the ground level. Both are growing well though my roof deck Sansevierias multiplies real fast. The plant also doesn't seem to mind what kind of soil you use. They grow like weeds.

Golden Box

The plant peddler who sold me this plant said that it is called Golden Box. I cannot find a lot of information about this plant on the internet though I see some bigger versions used as hedges in parks. I bought two plants and repotted them into four. The leaf color changes depending on the amount of light it receives. The golden box in this photo receives about 3 to 4 hours of morning sun from (7:00am to 10:00am).

This plant receives 6-7 hours of direct sunlight. The leaves look more golden.

Golden box however seems to attract the same pest that attacks pepper plant. I sprayed it with water and dish washing liquid. They disappear but after sometime, they return.

My infested golden box.
